Nicklaus Course, Country Club of Landfall
Supporting the Mission of Good Shepherd Center
Feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, and fostering transition of those in crisis to independence in the community.
Good Shepherd Center will host the 7th Annual Good Shepherd Center Golf Tournament at the Nicklaus Course, Country Club of Landfall. Golfers will have the opportunity to come out and play a round where all the proceeds will benefit the Good Shepherd's work with the hungry and homeless.
Good Shepherd Center's mission is simple: feed the hungry, shelter the homeless and foster transition of those in crisis to independence in the community. In order to accomplish this goal, nearly $1.5 million dollars must be raised to cover this year's operating budget.
Over the last six years, many of our friends in the business community have participated in the annual spring golf tournament. This event has raised $450,000 for Good Shepherd Center programs since 2003. This year, we would love for even more community members to get involved and make a difference in someone's life.
Community members can help us reach our goal in two possible ways: serve as an Event Sponsor or a Team/Individual Champion. Sponsors will also be acknowledged at the Tournament and all associated events, in the event program, on event signage, and in the Star-News.
For independent golfers/teams this year's cost of playing has not increased ($225 for single entry or $800 for a foursome). However, this year we encourage you to be a Team or Individual Champion and seek individual sponsors for your Team with the goal of raising $1600 per team, or $450 as an Individual Champion. This effort on your part would potentially double our proceeds and thereby have a significant impact on our ability to continue to fulfill our mission this year. This provides the opportunity for friends or businesses you know to support Good Shepherd Center by sponsoring you or your team as Champions. If we receive your commitment by April 10, your championship efforts will also be acknowledged in the event program.
The

About Good Shepherd Center
The mission of Good Shepherd Center is to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and foster transition of those in crisis to independence in the community. Established in 1983 as a modest Soup Kitchen, Good Shepherd has grown to become the largest provider of homeless services in the Tri-County area. Current programs include the Soup Kitchen, Second Helpings food salvage and distribution program, Sgt. Eugene Ashley Transitional Living Center for homeless veterans, Fourth Quarter Transitional Living Center for homeless men and women, a Night Shelter, and a Day Shelter providing the homeless with access to showers, clothing, jobs, and an on-site health clinic. This interfaith organization is heavily volunteer-driven, relying on the donated time and talent of well over 500 individuals from diverse backgrounds.
