Good Shepherd Center's family living room has been transformed. The project was carried out by faculty and students from the UNCW Watson School of Education, artist Golda Fox, and Director of Resources Development Scott Litten. The family room provides an area of relaxation, education, and play for 6 mothers and 10 children (age 5 months to 10 years). With an ocean theme, the faculty and students painted the walls two tone blue, produced unique art work for the walls, laminated and hung ocean posters, created a chalkboard art table, purchased new chairs and bean bags, installed safety outlets, created a new bulletin board, had the carpet professionally cleaned, secured the donation of a new sofa, installed wall mounted book racks, and provided new children's books and toys. The students worked side by side with a number of Good Shepherd Center's overnight guests to complete the project with flying colors. The family room looks brand new, providing a comfortable area in which mothers and children can enjoy their time together.
From the mothers and children, we are thankful!
